After almost 4 weeks of pretty good weather, Saturday July 16th was in sharp contrast, with fair breeze and chilly rain. At least it was a sea day, so no big deal.
We didn’t win trivia but headed to the atrium for a Princess ‘Market Day’, which is as usual, a means of trying to get you to spend a little more money, either on souvenirs, shop goods or Lotus Spa or Photographic services, such as portraits. The free shoulder massage taster option was taken by both of us and Paula was more impressed with hers that I was with mine, so we both booked on their day’s special with MJ. Paula at 3:30pm and mine at 4:45. That rather cut into our trivia schedule, but we decided that we’d manage.
A very light lunch of soup (which we couldn’t identify (parmentier?) and then to the cabin for a nana nap. Paula was feeling so much better than of late, but I was feeling worse! The over-exposure to air con is usually my downfall on every cruise and even ‘First Defence’ nasal spray has only delayed the inevitable.
Paula duly went off for her massage and I went to trivia. With one question worth 5 points, namely, which clown had a comic book produced in 1970/71, I gave my first suggestion as Marcel Marceau, but that didn’t meet with universal approval. I gave an alternative, but after question 20, I had to shoot off for my massage, so I had no idea what the true answer was.
(Only much later did I find out that we finished equal first, my clown suggestion being correct, but we lost the tie breaker to our morning team, who correctly guessed the year Tina Turner was born.)
Our massages were excellent and we’ll certainly use MJ again.
On the way to dinner, I bought some Coldral from the shop.
Half our table and half the other table had gone to the Curtis Stone ‘Share’ restaurant, so we combined and had a very pleasant dinner.
Late show was Kiwi singer Russell Harrison, who we first saw last year. Another good show, but we felt a couple of numbers were a bit forced. Probably an 8/10 this time.
Tomorrow, Vladivostok and for us, just a stroll around, but rather ironic that exactly as in 2012, I’m feeling a bit off colour. Fingers crossed that I last longer than the 30 minutes ashore this time.
