Day 25 - Almost to Jeju

A bit of a late start – not that it mattered, so we were still finishing breakfast when the 9:30 Shed meeting was starting.  Another fruity breakfast of sweet, fresh, pineapple, banana and melon.

Morning trivia was run by cruise director Mark for a change -  but not the one where we scored 20/20 last time!  So to Teri and Alex, Darryl and Sue, no Bandi-Bandi this time.

Just as Mark was starting, another announcement from the Captain and another medical emergency, meaning we’d changed course and were heading for Jeju after all.  This was originally on our schedule, but we stopped just short of the harbour and a Police inflatable (we think), escorted by a larger police launch, took a couple of passengers off.  As they walked off, rather than being stretchered off and apparently were waving to the passengers lined up on the decks, the rumour mill hasn’t been very effective in identifying the problem so far.  Once they’d been dropped off, we returned to our original course for Busan.

Our 1pm ukulele advanced class went through a few tunes we’d done earlier as Salomon tried to pick out ones for a so called concert in a couple of days’ time!  The most fun one (sung by Mike) a “Lovely Bunch of Coconuts” really should be a beginner’s song as the chord changes are easy.  The class then rolled straight into the beginner’s class, but we wanted to go to Ace McDermott’s Magic workshop.

A couple of good tricks he taught us, one of which we may try on our table mates at dinner some time, as they weren’t there.  The card sharp trick was beyond us, as we didn’t have a table in front of us on which to practice.

Off then for a late lunch.  Ratatouille soup – which was pale yellow.  Work that one out…   Also a very small portion (honest) of pork curry, mushroom and leek and another fish that I can’t name, or remember.  Bearing in mind it was already 2:45 when we left Ace, it only gave us 30 minutes to get back for an earlier than usual trivia.  Early, as yet another Captain’s Circle drinks – the 4th group on this voyage.  No doubt it will be repeated later in the trip.

It was formal night again and as the orchestra were playing in the Wheelhouse Bar, we called in there and had a couple of dances but the floor was a bit crowded, though we did manage a cha-cha.  Not sure that Richard will be too pleased with Paula’s lack of real dance practice so far, so he’ll have his work cut out on her return, to prepare her for another Pro-Am on September 3rd!

The dinner was enlivened by Marie and Mal celebrating 40 years of marriage, however, the actual event was 14th April.  Can I celebrate my birthday 6 months on I wonder?  As Paula still wasn’t up to eating a full meal, I scored a couple of extra lamb chops.

The late show in the Vista lounge late (R16!) show was Maggie’s well practiced routine “Live is  Lemon”.  A bit naughty at times, but probably now at the stage where we would give it  a miss in the future, as we have seen it several times before and know all the funnies.  You can spot those in the audience who haven’t seen it before as they are usually laughing the loudest, whilst those who have seen it more than once before merely chuckle.  It is difficult to not like the show though, but I can’t honestly score it any better than 7.5, simply on the basis of the repeats.

Bed at 23:30 and an early start tomorrow for a Princess tour in Busan.  We are meeting up with another 6 at 7:15am.

By the way, we drank a toast at dinner to Ros, who should have been on the dinner table, who celebrates her birthday on Bastille Day.
