Day 19 - Talented passengers

A fairly traditional sea day, meaning still no joy in uploading previous blogs; Men’s Shed after a cooked breakfast; a non-winning trivia; ukulele class.  Although my schedule of hand therapy didn’t include ukulele until last week, and I started a week early, I still need my knuckle-duster support, as the 3rd and 4th fingers still have a tendency to droop and I still have to wear it at night.  The class was, as yesterday, quite challenging with some difficult chord changes that I couldn’t quite manage, but Salomon is certainly pushing us to expand our play beyond the very basics, which is good.

Instead of lunch at 2pm, we slid next door to the Vista lounge for the ever popular, but sometimes hit and miss Passenger Talent Show.  I have to say that 5 out of the six participants were pretty good. One sang ‘If I Were Rich Man’ from ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ – and dressed accordingly; one played a fairly small harmonica very well; Mike from the ukulele class showed that he was pretty good on piano too; one other guy sang very well and a lady was probably a better singer a year or three back.  At least we were spared 13 minutes of ‘The Man from Snowy River’, which tended to blight some previous talent shows.

So, a 3pm lunch. Roasted chicken, rice and a very nice mushroom and leek dish which we hadn’t had before, plus the usual guacamole for our avocado hit.  Buffet food, despite our rather odd eating hours has been very good.

As Outlook was still unable to send any emails (blogs), I posted a quick note on Facebook, on line, just to keep close friends informed as to the reason for the lack of posts and to let them know we were still alive.

Afternoon quiz was 14/20 and not enough for a win.

Just before dinner, our Head Waiter from last year, Oana, was away from her usual post at the Sterling Steakhouse, so we managed a pic.  I don’t think that the Curtis Stone ‘Share’ notice was really 100% appropriate as a caption, but Oana was always good fun last year.  Garry skipped dinner, to watch the footy (not soccer…) and Mary opted to rest, in preparation for a tour day tomorrow, so Dave and Sandie joined us.  We all left our peas as they were bullet hard – except Mal…  He ate his.

Most of us went to the theatre for the second Annie Frances show.  Note that the spelling has changed.  Another good show with a real mix again (including yodelling) but although her repertoire was as broad as before, we all felt that it needed a bit more pace to break up a succession of slower numbers.

Paula watched the Federer vs Raonic tennis match.  Alarm set for 7am as tomorrow, we have a face to face interview with South Korean immigration at 8:30am (group 10) and then to the Wheelhouse Bar for the meet for our Princess, Incheon, half day tour.  Half day tours suit us pretty well, as six hours on any form of transport other than a ship, is a bit hard on the spine.  A new port for us and I suspect, most others.

A note in the Patter that there will be no internet between midnight and 5am.  Hopefully, that may mean the hiccups have been fixed - but we are not holding our breath on that one.
